6:38 am
>> good morning, starting you off with a live look at the grand hotel in ocean city. just a few, thin clouds out there towards the east and the waves looking nice. looks like a few beachgoers out already enjoying the waves. temperatures are a little on the cool side. 68 back at b.w.i. thurgood marshall and the humidity at 96%. already seeing a few light rain showers popping up around the metro area. that could continue at least through the early part of the morning. then we should be drying out towards the afternoon. but yesterday with all that rain, the temperatures were really held down. yesterday, our high was really
6:39 am
at 69 at the airport. 73, that's all we hit at the inner harbor. compare that to last week when we were in the low 100's. that was actually a nice relief so it did ruin some outdoor plans as we had that rain through the bulk of the day. more than an inch of rain fell at the airport. almost an inch fell downtown. this is good news, though, it is helping us come out of the drought. it at least put a dent in it yesterday as so far this month, we've received 3 inches of rain. that's actually now above normal by .3 of an inch thanks to that rain that we saw yesterday. in the scheme of things, the year is still 7 inches below normal. all the rain we continue to get is beneficial. your yard will be thanking you even if it's not the best weather for the weekend. we're seeing a few hints out there of some light showers and drizzle around the metro area. some light showers just south of ocean city as well. this is going to be the trend through the morning. we still have this onshore flow with high pressure sitting over us, we get the clockwise flow around that. the counter clockwise low is
6:40 am
basically funneling in that air off the ocean. this should start to shift down to the south which means we should be drying out later today. eventually we'll look at the cold front that's coming in for the middle of the week. it will increase our rain chances at the end of the seven day. today is a little warmer than yesterday. expecting highs in the low to mid 80's. a lot of clouds through the bulk of your day. later this afternoon, a few peaks of sunshine possible. if we get more sun, it could be slightly warmer. we're going for 83 for a high temperature today. upper 70's this afternoon. may warm up to 90 degrees tomorrow. there's a 20% chance for a shower or storm in ocean city for the next couple of days. we're on a bit of a roller coaster with our temperatures. we were well up above the 100 degree mark last week and we've been coming down from that, our cool low yesterday in the upper 60's. we're climbing back above normal. we'll stay that way for the last

6:42 am

6:43 am
and you fill a glass of ice water and you can either do something like this where you allow the natural flavors of the citrus infuse in the water or you can pour yourself a little glass and let the kids pick their own fruit and make it like a fun drink for themselves. you can do plain water or sparkling water and make it a little bit bubbly and fun and that adds flavor without adding sugar. >> talk about sparkling water, some people might think is sparkling water the same as soda? when you're talking about sodas and sparkling water, isn't it basically the sugar content and not the carbonation that's the problem? >> carbonation is fine. the bubbliness and make sure you're getting a sparkling water and not getting something like tonic water that can sometimes have extra calories as well. >> is anything -- is any particular vegetable or fruit better to use like our citrus -- it it better to have a citrus in your drink? i know that cucumber can be very refreshing.
6:44 am
